About Me

Background

I graduated from Campbell University with a degree in Business Administration. I attended the University of Dayton School of Law in Dayton, Ohio. I received my Law Degree in May of 2003. I subsequently received my license to practice law from the North Carolina State Bar in August 2003.

EXPERIENCE

I started my legal career in the Wake County District Attorney’s Office for six years. During that time, I gained valuable experience serving the citizens of Wake County. I tried bench and jury trials regularly. I worked in District Court, Domestic Violence courtroom, and Juvenile Court. I also worked in Superior Court handling high class felonies.

I opened a solo practice in 2010. Along with criminal defense, I began handling family law cases such as child support, child custody, and divorces. Since 2018 I have assisted a domestic violence shelter with getting protective orders for their clients, and temporary custody orders as needed.

I became a Board-Certified Specialist in state Criminal Law in 2014. This required that I pass an examination in the specialty area of Criminal Law. I also had to be favorably evaluated by other lawyers and judges called a peer review.

During my legal career, I handled numerous civil bench trials, criminal bench trials, and criminal jury trials.  I gained further in-depth knowledge and experience in courtroom and trial procedures. Litigants want a fair and impartial judge who will base decisions on the law and treat all parties with dignity and respect. My twenty-one years of experience in both Criminal and Family Law will allow me to provide the same level of professionalism to our community as a Superior Court Judge.

PERSONAL

I am a native of Wake County. I was born in Raleigh, NC and graduated from high school in Raleigh.

I have been married for 27 years. My husband owns and operates his own business in Raleigh. We are parents to four children. We are busy during the week and most weekends. We have family in the area and enjoy spending time with them. In my spare time I like to read, study Spanish, and write.

I volunteer with Legal Aid of North Carolina providing phone consultations to those in need of legal advice. I am a member of the Wake County Bar Association, serving on the Public Service Committee. I sometimes volunteer as a judge or juror during mock trials or moot court competitions held in North Carolina.

I humbly ask for your vote for Superior Court Judge on November 5, 2024. I will bring the same integrity, commitment, and professionalism to the bench that I have always shown during my legal career.

Thank you for your support!
